Arsenal are monitoring Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes with a view to a summer move for the 22-year-old Brazilian.

But they have been warned that the powerful centre-half will not come cheap after making an inquiry during the January transfer window.

Lille president Gerard Lopez has already proved himself an extremely tough negotiator after holding out for a club record £72million fee from the Gunners for Nicolas Pepe in the summer.

And he is likely to demand almost £30million for Gabriel despite paying just £1.5million to bring him to northern France three years ago.

Lille’s valuation is based on the £27million fee which Arsenal have paid St.Etienne for William Saliba, who was signed last summer but has remained on loan in France for the season.

Bernd Leno insists Arsenal's players always believed skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would stay – despite Barcelona's transfer-deadline interest.

And the Gunners' Germany keeper claims that's because the squad is still excited by Mikel Arteta's arrival as boss in December.

Leno said: “You never had the feeling that any player was thinking about another club or wanted to leave or was refusing to train, or something like that, or they didn't have the mentality in the training.

“Everybody can see we have a new manager and a new mentality.

“We want to build something here at Arsenal.

“Maybe it takes a little bit of time, but of course we also want to have good results straight away now.”

Stars of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all trained at the same sprawling Dubai sports complex during the Premier League winter break.

Players such as Callum Hudson-Odoi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Luiz, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot were all seen enjoying the sun in the Middle East.

But it was soon time to get to work as United, Chelsea and Arsenal all trained at the The Nad Al Sheba sports complex in Dubia.

The Complex has become the go-to venue for clubs and athletes looking for some winter sun.

Cristiano Ronaldo was a visitor in the past, Patrice Evra is a regular and Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain, Virgil van Dijk, Novak Djokovic and Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford have all used the facility for injury recovery.
