EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has been thrown a career lifeline… by the French league's bottom side.

The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker is a free agent after quitting Turkish club Kayserispor earlier this month.

Top-flight strugglers Nimes Olympique have now approached the 35-year-old to offer him a deal.

The southern-based club lies joint bottom of Ligue 1 alongside Toulouse, with both clubs collecting just 12 points and having a goal difference of minus 17.

Nimes coach Bernard Blaquart hopes Adebayor can inspire his team's attack, which has managed just a dozen goals in 17 games.

French broadcaster RMC claims Nimes have put together a deal which allows them to end the striker's contract in the event of relegation.

They are currently five points adrift of safety in their second season back in the top league.

DARREN BENT has announced that he will be coming out of retirement to play for Wycombe Wanderers.

The former England international had called an end to his playing career after finishing a season-long loan spell at Burton Albion from Derby County in 2018.

But the 35-year-old has posted a video of himself with burly Wycombe hitman Adebayo Akinfenwa, in which he confirms that he's signed for the Chairboys.

In the video, after Akinfenwa announces the signing of Bent, the ex Tottenham man says: “I'm delighted to have signed for Wycombe.

“They're a great club, a great squad, I know a few of the players really well. Can't wait to get going.”

When Akinfenwa asks Bent what he'll bring to the team, he responds: “Hopefully goals, bit of experience, goals – a strike partner for yourself.

    “Looking forward to it.”

KYLIAN MBAPPE is fed up of being treated like a kid rather than a star by Paris Saint-Gemain manager Tomas Tuchel, according to reports.

Mundo Deportivo believe the Ligue 1 star wants the same respect as more high-profile players such as Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo.

The French international feels like a star and now wants to be treated as such.

The report adds that Tuchel hopes the youngster will not follow in Neymar's footsteps in France, with the Brazilian having experienced many on and off-field controversies since arriving to the club in 2017.

Tensions have been high between Mbappe and Tuchel recently following the 20-year-old being substituted off the pitch at the end of the PSG's game against Montpelier.

The German made the decision to take the youngster off in the 90th minute, leaving the World Cup winner seething.

When Tuchel walked up to Mbappe to greet him upon that decision, Mbappe refused to acknowledge his coach and didn't even look at him as Tuchel tried to hug him in order to explain the decision.

SHEFFIELD UNITED boss Chris Wilder has revealed that free agent Chris Wilder is training with the club.

He said: “He is obviously a very talented player who should be playing in the Premier League regularly, but for one reason or another isn't,” said boss Chris Wilder.

“Jack is looking at us and we are looking at Jack.”

Before adding: “It's not a trial. Jack is in for a few days. We know about Jack. He's without a club at the moment,” added Wilder.

“He is obviously a talent because of the teams he's played for and he's looking for a home and it's something that might develop along the way.”
