MANCHESTER UNITED have entered their winter break and will be hoping for a better result at Chelsea in two weeks than they had at home to Wolves.

    UNITED LATEST

IT'S looking like it could be a busy summer at Old Trafford – for both ins and outs.

Man Utd could decide to let Jesse Lingard go amid his poor run of form with Roma and Atletico Madrid reportedly ready to snap up the midfielder.

Without a goal or assist in the Premier League in over 12 months, the 27-year-old has lost his place in the England setup.

While more details are emerging of United's bids for Bournemouth striker Josh King.

The former Red Devils youth product was the subject of a £25million bid on Thursday.

But United didn't go any higher than that mark, believing they could get better value for money elsewhere.

Jadon Sancho is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reported top target this summer.

Sancho, 19, is one of the names reportedly on Ole's transfer wishlist, as well as that of Chelsea.

This season he has had 15 goals and 16 assists in 27 games in all competitions.

OPEN PERS AND MAKE CAVANI ED IN

Edinson Cavani would be the perfect summer signing for Manchester United, according to Old Trafford legend Robin van Persie.

Uruguay striker Cavani has lost his regular place at PSG despite being their record scorer with 136 Ligue 1 goals in 196 games.

United were linked with the 32-year-old in last month's transfer window as PSG prefer Argentina star Mauro Icardi as partner for Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

But huge wage demands halted boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's interest in Cavani.

And instead United landed Shanghai Shenhua's ex-Watford frontman Odion Ighalo on loan.

But asked on Twitter which forward United should sign, Holland hero Van Persie replied: “Edinson Cavani, brilliant player and available goalmachine.”

    BRUNO DILEMMA

Ryan Giggs claims Bruno Fernandes' Manchester United debut has given boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a headache over where to play him.

Old Trafford legend Giggs was much calmer about the £55m midfielder's display than most of the encouraging verdicts dished out on the Portugal star.

And he told Premier League Productions: “There was glimpses of the quality he does possess.

” I think it might need a bit of working out what his best position is

“With his back to goal, I don’t think that’s his position. When he’s a little bit deeper, defensively, he may be a bit of a liability. He’s in between the two really.

“‘That’s where you want to see him, coming on to the ball [heading into the final third].

“But also you see when he is that little bit deeper he can spray the passes, he has got the vision to then play those passes. But then you need the runs.’”

CHERRIES TONE UP FOR LOSING JOSH

Bournemouth are lining up Peterborough’s Ivan Toney to replace Manchester United target Josh King.

Posh striker Toney, 23, who has scored 21 goals this season, is one of the hottest properties in the EFL.

Cherries' striker King looks increasingly likely to leave the south coast this summer, having been linked with a £25million move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

Struggling Bournemouth, regardless of which division they are in, would then have the money to land Toney even though he could cost up to £13m.

Toney, also being watched by Burnley and Middlesbrough, has scored 46 goals in 91 appearances – including one in Saturday’s 4-1 win at Ipswich – since moving from Newcastle for just £350,000 in the summer of 2018.

And he still hopes to help Peterborough up to the Championship as they are currently third in League One.
