Liverpool's youngsters might be preparing for what could be a chastening evening at Aston Villa on Tuesday , but for the seniors it is all about the Club World Cup.

The Reds take on Mexican side Monterrey in Doha on Wednesday, with Jurgen Klopp's squad gearing up to ensure that take a place in Saturday evening's final.

Cameras were allowed behind the scenes in the Qatari capital as the Reds fine-tuned preparations for their last four clash against the Liga MX side, and as per usual the squad seemed to be in fine spirits.

Here are some of the latest images as the Reds squad sat down to an afternoon meal.

1. Bobby the fussy eater?

Firmino didn't look too happy with what was on his plate

Roberto Firmino is a name on the lips of of many a Liverpool fan at the moment, but he was taking great care over what he'd put into his mouth.

The Brazilian's form of late is a mild concern as he's looked to be fairly tired, with that affecting his performances.

A good rest this week will do him the world of good though, whatever he eats.

2. Careful Joe

Joe Gomez is set for a key role in the coming weeks

Joe Gomez? In a canteen? With other footballers?

Thankfully for the England international defender things seemed to go off without a hitch for him as he dug into some healthy snacks.

3. Is there no end to Milner's versatility?

"Ribena anyone?"

James Milner seems to be capable of most things, and he looked as though he was about to turn to the catering industry as he eyed up what was on offer in Doha.

Milner was present at Liverpool's press conference earlier in the day, and having just extended his Reds deal until 2022 he'll be eyeing the Club World Cup as the next signpost of success.

4. Seated Salah

Mo Salah took time out to relax

For all the talk of fixture congestion and the youth team playing in a competition that the club clearly don't care that much about, there is also a feeling that this is something of a mid-season break for Liverpool.

That was certainly the vibe given off by Mo Salah, who will be desperate to continue his recent scoring streak against Monterrey as he plots to impress in a competition that offers him the chance to further establish his case as one of the best players on the planet.

Ignore Alisson seeking out his phone and instead look at the schedule on the board behind the Liverpool goalkeeper, as breakfast, lunch, snacks, rest and wake up calls are all laid out for the squad.
