TOTTENHAM have work to do when they return from the international break as they look to drastically improve on a 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United.

Mauricio Pochettino's men are currently 14th in the table - and his job could be under threat from a certain Jose Mourinho.

Yet, if he remains, the Argentine is reportedly desperate to snap up Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

TOTTENHAM have been handed a boost in their bid to agree a permanent deal for Giovani Lo Celso.

The Argentine signed for the club on a season-long loan with an option to buy from Real Betis in the summer.

But according to Mundo Deportivo, Spurs can get a 20 per cent discount on the transfer if they trigger his purchase in January, meaning he will cost £27.5m rather than £34.2m.

EXCLUSIVE by Dan King: JOSE MOURINHO is keeping a close eye on the Tottenham situation — despite believing the Real Madrid job will be his if he wants it.

Mourinho has been linked with a Bernabeu return for several months because of Zinedine Zidane’s struggles in his own second spell at the club.

The former Chelsea boss, 56, told friends he is confident of being offered the post if and when Zidane goes.

But the TV pundit also confided he would not necessarily accept, partly because of the possibility of taking over at Spurs.

FORMER TOTTENHAM target Bruno Fernandes has reginited transfer speculation around his future after admitting that he has “dreams to fulfill”.

Spurs eyed a move for the midfielder in the summer but could not agree a deal with Sporting Lisbon.

“I’m not worried at all (about transfer window speculation),” Fernandes said after Portugal beat Lithuania 6-0 on Thursday.

“Since 2016, there's been talk about my possible departure.

“I’m well, doing my job and doing the best I can. I have dreams to fulfil but I have no need to force my departure.

“I feel the love here and if I have to leave, I hope I leave good memories.”
