Women Grasp Opportunity To Help Students

The Soqosoqo Vakamarama iTaukei Cakaudrove (SVTC) members have taken the opportunity to weave ceiling mats for Wailevu West District School.

This opportunity presented to Wailevu SVTC women was part of the Australian Government-funded Cyclone Recovery Programme.

A Facebook page showed SVTC president, Adi Kavu Fong, along with Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade officials on a visit of Dawara, Laucala and Natua Villages.

Ms Fong said they were able to experience the wonders of Solesolevaki (communal working) and the fine art of weaving mats.

The women’s group has created opportunities to give back to community growth.

Recently, in another initiative members have embarked on, students from primary, secondary, tertiary and youth groups were allowed access to the Ramarama Great Hall for studies.
