The Teidamu Primary School football players went through their football drills to improve on their skills.
The training session was conducted by Fiji Football Association technical director Timo Jankowski.
Jankowski visited the school yesterday after watching the team play in the Lautoka Inter- Primary School competition last week.
“I saw lots of talented and enthusiastic football players and thought of visiting the school to give more encouragement,” he told Fiji FA Media.
Jankowski said the school is in the interior of Lautoka and does not have a proper playing ground.
“The kids have passion for football despite playing on the red soil. I had a great session with a focus on ball mastery and introduced the McDonald’s Skill Challenge in which more than 30 girls and boys participated. The best (boys and girls) talents were presented with McDonald’s footballs,” Jankowski said.
He said McDonald’s Skill Challenge was something to promote so players could work on it at home.
“Two goalkeepers also received goalkeeper gloves and some players were given boots, which were donated by a friend from New Zealand.
“It was fantastic to see the children enjoying football so much even if they play on a difficult pitch,” he said.
Jankowski said he was overwhelmed with the support of parents and guardians who came out in numbers to watch their children.
“Parents play a vital role in the development of their kids, and it was nice to see many coming out to support their kids during the session.”
Jankowski will be visiting more primary schools to scout and develop our upcoming football players.
