The Suva football team is a step away from qualifying to the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia, this December.
The Babs Khan-coached side made tomorrow’s Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League final against defending champions Auckland City. Suva defied all odds to beat a strong AS Pirae-side 4-2 in extra time in their semifinal clash in Port Vila, Vanuatu, on Wednesday.
A setback for the Suva side will be unavailability of reliable defender Filipe Baravilala in the final after he was red carded in the semifinal after two yellow card bookings.
Auckland City survived a score in the second semifinal when they were tied 2-2 with Ifira Blackbird at fulltime. The Kiwis managed to register 5-4 win on penalty kicks.
