The spiritual preparation of any national team especially for the Rugby World Cup (RWC) is crucial.

FIJI Water Flying Fijians head coach Simon Raiwalui made the comment while naming his team at Rugby House yesterday.

Raiwalui has included former national rep and coach Reverend Joji Rinakama to oversee the spiritual side of things for the team.

“Family and faith were two foundations of every Fijian player,” Raiwalui said.

“It has to be part of our journey and it will be part of our journey,” he said.

“We understand that this is a huge part of our lives; our foundation is based on family, faith, religion; we have to respect those things and live it.

“We must follow what we say; we are bringing those in, it’s a huge part of our campaign.”

Counting down to the RWC the squad is taking a week-long training programme in Taveuni starting Saturday.

Among the six players axed from the initial squad are prop Jone Koroiduadua, Setareki Tuicuvu, Adrea Cocagi and Mesulame Dolokoto while Haereiti Hetet and flanker Joseva Tamani are still recovering from injury.

Tamani and Hetet would be monitored from outside the group by the medical staff.
