Queen Victoria School (QVS) was crowned the new Southern Zone Under-19 cricket champ on Wednesday.
This was after they beat defending champions Marist Brothers High School (MBHS) in the Fiji Secondary School Southern Zone final at Suva’s Albert Park.
QVS won by nine wickets.
MBHS batted first and scored a massive 155 runs with a fall of six wickets.
Hughes brothers Ezekiel and Roman scored 57 and 43 runs respectively.
QVS bowlers Sefanaia Matai and Meli Rabonu took two wickets each and one each to Lepani Bolaqace and Jone Taufa.
QVS then batted and scored 156 runs with a fall of 1 wicket.
Michael Raphael top scored with a massive 80 runs followed by player of the final Sefanaia Matai with 52 runs.
Ratu Kadavulevu School won the 3rd/4th playoff against Suva Grammar School by five runs while John Wesley won the plate final over Lami High School by seven wickets.
