The challenge for each one of us is to work hard, striving to compete for what is beneficial for our development, our families, our community (vanua), our church, and our Government.

These were the words of Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, as he challenged students of Queen Victoria School to work with honesty and integrity, while commissioning their new school block yesterday.

The new block of 16 classrooms is another funded initiative of the Government of Indonesia through the Adopt a School programme bilateral agreement with its Fijian counterpart.

Indonesia has invested about $3 million into ensuring quality education for QVS.

This monetary investment comprises the new classroom block and a dormitory, which are both part of Indonesia’s $10 million scoping work value.

In acknowledging Indonesia, Mr Radrodro said: “We should therefore take ownership of this new learning centre and maintain these school buildings in a manner that recognises the effort and commitment that went into making it possible.”
