Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Mick Byrne may have taken a leaf out of former Chiefs and current Wales coach Warren Gatland’s book when it comes to making shocking selection in the most important matches.

Wales were on a path to redeem themselves at the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Gatland was given the mammoth task to orchestrate this and he shocked the rugby world when he announced the appointment of Wales Under-20 flanker Sam Warburton to captain the side to the World Cup.

Yesterday, it was Byrne’s turn when he selected Fijian Warriors and Fiji U20 captain Motikai Murray at openside flanker to replace the injured Joseva Tamani.
