McDonald’s Fiji Goes Big

McDonald’s Fiji plans to build four more restaurants around the country, but it is wary of labour shortage in the construction industry.

The biggest food chain company in the world is stamping its mark in Fiji, and construction is underway for a restaurant in Nakasi to open before the year ends.

The restaurant will serve people between the Suva-Nausori corridor, said McDonald’s Fiji managing director, Marc McElrath.

The $6 million investment will feature McDonald’s latest design, giving customers top-class retreatment including its famous drive through, playground, kiosk and café.

The Nakasi branch will employ 45 people. McDonald’s Fiji has more than 350 employees, most are and school leavers.

“We believe we are the biggest employers of school kids and school leavers, and will offer training to them when they come out of school,” he said.

“It is something that we will continue to do.”
