Let’s Go Local: New Destination Retail Experience

“As a dedicated wine importer and distributor, the shops provide an immersive experience that takes you to the key wine regions in the world as you travel through the shop, with wines organised according to country, region, and vineyards,” Ms Vusoniwailala said.

A new wine shop aims to become a centre for special training, events, and other beverage related activities.

Victoria Wines director Kate Vusoniwailala described their new ‘destination retail experience’ at Santok Plaza in Martintar, Nadi as just that.

She said it would add to the broad cultural and entertainment diversity of Nadi’s rapidly growing tourist centre.

“As a dedicated wine importer and distributor, the shops provide an immersive experience that takes you to the key wine regions in the world as you travel through the shop, with wines organised according to country, region, and vineyards,” Ms Vusoniwailala said.

“It was a considerable investment because every time we set up a new shop, we follow a retail brand template.”

It also features a selection of wines from the famous Gato Negro brand that has supported the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua XV through the Super Rugby Pacific journey, along with a selection of new wineries that recently joined the portfolio.

These wineries include the acclaimed Trinity Hill wines from New Zealand, a selection of Murphy Goode wines from the Jackson Family Wines in California, and a number of new wineries from Australia including Giant Steps, Bremerton, Patritti and Gemtree.

Ms Vusoniwailala said Victoria Wines was committed to developing an appreciation to quality in the market in Fiji, led by Liam Hindle, Fiji’s only Chevalier de l’Ordre du Merite Agricole.

Mr Hindle hosted monthly wine tastings for the Victoria Wines Wine Club in Suva for over two decades and recently re-established the programme in May this year.

The company is also committed to various wine events and sponsorships that promote our national sport, the arts, and other community benefit initiatives.

This year, they are also the approved Fijian agent and distributor for internationally recognised beverage brands, including:

  • Corona Beer,
  • Stella Artois,
  • Bacardi,
  • East Imperial soft drinks,
  • Antipodes Sparkling Water.

Nadi Sigatoka town special administrator chair Lawrence Kumar acknowledged Victoria Wines for their dedication and commitment which reflects in their passion.

Victoria Wines opened its first shop over 30 years ago on the corner of Victoria Parade and McArthur Street in downtown Suva.
