“The fact that this school has come this far providing education to thousands of children living in remote areas, crossing flooded rivers and walking long distances is a tribute to the remarkable work done by the founders, teachers, committees and parents,” Mr Chand said.

Korotari Arya Primary School in Labasa celebrated its diamond jubilee on Wednesday, marking 60 years of dedicated service in providing education to the local community.
Chief guest was Parmod Chand, the Managing Director of Parmod Enterprises Pte Limited and a proud native of Korotari, Labasa.
During the celebration, Mr Chand, a former Member of Parliament, recounted the school’s humble beginnings.
The land, once occupied by a tobacco company and later abandoned, was acquired by a former committee from iTaukei Land Trust Board with the vision to establish a school.
Mr Chand’s own father was one of the founders, and he acknowledged the challenges they faced in the early days—lack of transportation, road access, water supply, electricity, and limited funds.
“The fact that this school has come this far providing education to thousands of children living in remote areas, crossing flooded rivers and walking long distances is a tribute to the remarkable work done by the founders, teachers, committees and parents,” Mr Chand said.
