Golfer Hussein In For Stiff Competition

Defending champion Abid Hussein is expected to face stiff competition from Shakil Pillay and Nitulesh Mali in the Long Run/Neritak Limited-sponsored Club Championship 2023 at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club tomorrow.

Mali has just returned from the 75th Singapore Open Golf Amateur Championship 2023 held at the Orchid Country Club, last week.

Ioane Sigarara who is defending his title in the B-grade is expected to face tough competition from Imran Khan and Sarvesh Dewan.

New Winner

A new winner will be crowned in the C-grade, as Navan Chand who has moved overseas will not be competing. Jonathan Park is the man to watch.

Fiji Open women’s winner Bella Cho is expected to be the outright winner in the ladies’ A-grade, while Carlene Kelly is set for a B-grade with stiff competition from Tiri Naylor.

DGRC manager Amitesh Chandra says the greens are in tip-top form as the recent showers have made it more playable.

He added the stroke play with the lowest gross score in each grade will be crowned the club champion for 2023.

“Professionals will compete for the $2000 prize money and in this event, stones/coral in bunkers may be removed.

“NTP’s on all par three, Open to all amateur men and women, Longest Drive men and women – Hole 14 winner will collect prizes.”
