Digicel Fiji Under-23 coaches will be using the Digicel Fiji FACT tournament to scout players.

This was confirmed by the Fiji Football Association.

Fiji U23 assistant coach Marika Rodu told Fiji FA Media this is a chance for them to have a look at players who are born in 2001 and 2002.

“We have made a summary of players that will be participating in this tournament. We have been tracking them since the first round of the Digicel Fiji Premier League so by now they should have played 810 minutes of football,” Rodu said.

“The Fiji FACT is additional time for them to showcase their potential and make sure we secure the best players for the Olympic play-offs.”

He highlighted that this selection is for the local based- players and they have some players overseas.

“Before we march into camp on July 21, we should come up with a squad to train for four weeks before we depart for New Zealand. We’ll have 25 players in camp.”

Rodu urged the players to show their best in the Fiji FACT.

“As coaches, we look at you even without the ball and what kind of decision you make. The way you run, how you defend, how you help your team-mates. Decision making is something we would also like to see,” he added.
