Agricultural produce may not make it to the market if producers are not prepared for a possible El Nino.
The Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) and the Fiji Business Disaster Resilience Council (FBDRC) are calling on the private sector to brace for a drought, said to be more destructive than previous years.
The drought forecast from September, is based on the cold season Fiji is in.
The situation could affect rice production, livestock and cassava farms among many others.
Current cold temperatures are between 14 to 17-degree celsius, said acting FMS director Terry Atalifo.
