One of the focuses of the Assemblies of God (AOG) Church conference this week is on the Next Generation.

With more than 1000 attending the first day, AOG general secretary, Pastor Filikesa Koroivueta, said: “For the first time, slots have been provided for the young people called the Next Generation (often shortened to Next-Gen or NextGen) to have their own services.”

To nurture the younger generations, the church has allocated time slots for youth and children’s programmes.

The initiative, known as “NEXT GEN”, aims to equip youth with the skills and awareness needed to navigate their future more meaningfully and successfully.

Meanwhile, first on the agenda this week, was the installation of the approved credential holders, Licentiate Pastors and ordained Ministers yesterday. (More of this in tomorrow’s edition).

Pastor Koroivueta said: “The four-day conference will cover teachings and lessons that highlight how we can be different to become a dynamic, vibrant Holy Spirit filled movement.

“The conference is more like a family event.

“Most of our programmes and activities are targeted towards developing the inner man of an individual.”

Additionally, there will be a formal meeting for two days where discussions on its work for the last five years will be covered as well as how they have fared.

“There are resolution to discuss, amending certain parts of our constitution to make us relevant,” he said.

There will also be discussions on its capital projects they wish to embark on. The conference is set to end on Friday, 8.
