THE Zimbabwe Republic Police on Thursday applauded members of the public for providing vital information and leads which have seen the force successfully conducting investigations and apprehending criminals.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said tip-offs helped arrest Soul Mubhawu (28) in connection with the murder of his father-in-law, David Takundwa, in the Chikwaka area of Goromonzi district, Mashonaland East.

Mubhawu allegedly struck his father-in-law with an iron shoe-mender and a stone, fatally injuring Mr Takundwa, who died on admission at Parirenyatwa hospital.

Mubhawu was arrested in Harare’s Stoneridge suburb where he was reportedly hiding, following a tip off from members of the public.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds the public for supplying vital information to the police in the quest to eradicate the scourge of crime in the country,” said Nyathi.

Police were now appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of suspects accused of a murder in Chegutu on Wednesday.

“Police in Chegutu are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Talent Mutandwa, Baba Simba alias Kedha and other unknown suspects who are being sought in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 6 September 2023 near Energy Park Service Station, Chegutu.

“The suspects who were travelling in a Nissan Caravan kombi registration AFA 7071 and two Honda Fit vehicles pounced on Polite Muzenda (27) and his two friends who were pushing a Toyota Harrier vehicle which had run out of fuel.
