MISS, MR PIGG’S PEAK CROWNING A SUCCESS

Pigg’s Peak - The fairest of them all.

On Saturday Pigg’s Peak Town came alive as it played host to the much anticipated Miss and Mr Pigg’s Peak Pageant at Gobolondlo Hall. The main sponsor of the event was Pigg’s Peak Member of Parliament Jabulani Mabuza, who had support from other noticeable sponsors, who made the show a success. Although the event was scheduled to start at 8pm, it was delayed due to unforeseen electrical faults at the venue. Despite this setback, the audience remained patient, with people making way to their seats early and waiting for the technical issues to be resolved.

Attendees

The show eventually started at around midnight and ran until the early hours of the morning, with attendees staying until the end at around 5am. The event was hosted by Wandile Hlophe and 2022/23 Miss Pigg’s Peak winner Temvelo Mtsetfwa, who were both incredible MCs throughout the night. They kept the crowd engaged and entertained, making the wait worthwhile. The pair had three outfit changes during the show, adding to the glamour and excitement of the night. The pageant featured 10 contestants for Miss Pigg’s Peak and 5 contestants for Mr Pigg’s Peak, all of whom looked absolutely amazing in the different categories they paraded in. The categories included traditional regalia, casual wear, dance, swimwear, and evening wear, where contestants were also asked questions.

The event was not short of entertainment, with performances from M Nation, who performed his hit single ‘Limuva Lami,’ Scuveve, and the Dynamic Groovers from Manzini, who brought the energy with their electric dance moves and fire stunts. The audience was kept on their feet throughout the night, with the electrifying ambience. Finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived. The winners were announced at around 4.30am, with Gcinizwi Tsikati, who was contestant number four crowned, as the new Miss Pigg’s Peak 2023/2024, and contestants number 7, Tebesutfu Mncina and number 2, Anele Mcivame also crowned as the 1st  and 2nd princesses, respectively. The 2023/2024 Mr Pigg’s Peak winner was contestant number 3, Mhlonishwa Ndzinisa, with contestants number 2, Mkhulisi Ndzinisa and 1, Percy Shongwe Percy coming in as the 1st and 2nd Princes, respectively.

Setback

The event was a huge success, despite the initial setback, and the organisers did an excellent job of keeping the audience engaged and entertained throughout the night. The main organiser of the show, Kwazile Masimula forwarded her appreciation to the town of Pigg’s Peak and said; “I would love to thank all the people who attended the show and were patient with the delays we had, and to thank the sponsors of the event with the parents who held our hands throughout the journey of this event. The contestants put on a fantastic show, and it was evident that they had put in a lot of effort in preparing for the pageant, we are grateful to them also.” In conclusion, the Miss and Mr Pigg’s Peak Pageant was a night to remember, with stunning performances, electrifying entertainment, and deserving winners crowned. The event was a testament to the talent and beauty present in Pigg’s Peak, and it showcased the town’s potential as a hub for entertainment and culture.
