MANZINI – The German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation (DGRV) has committed to continue supporting the National Cooperative Federation of Eswatini (NCFE).

The commitment was made by DGRV Representative Veit Gesenhues, during the 2023 Cooperatives Day Celebration held at Mavuso Sports Centre yesterday.  Gesenhues noted that co-operatives were contributing immensely to the development and economy of Eswatini. He stated that when it came to the challenges faced by the co-operatives, there were plans being made to address those challenges with the support from German.

He said the plans were made to assist the co-operatives to become the cornerstone of the country’s economy. Gesenhues said there was a need to work together to ensure that co-operatives were able to finance each other in order to avoid going to commercial banks for financial support. He further mentioned that as the DGRV, they had no intention of leaving the country or stop supporting the local co-operatives. “We, as German cooperatives sector and also the German Government, have committed to continue with the partnership they had with the Eswatini Government,” said Gesenhues.
He highlighted that as of the beginning of 2024, they would provide more financial support to Eswatini Government.
