LIBERIA: Gongloe Wants U.S. Impose Sanction On Weah And Officials, Calls On Legislators To Impeach The President

The political leader of the opposition Liberia People’s Party (LPP), Cllr, Taiwan Saye Gongloe has called on the United States to immediately sanction President George Mannie Weah, and his officials of government for ‘Playing;’ with the livelihood of the Liberian people during his reign as President.

He alleged that the Liberian leader has not done anything to equally bringing relief to the Liberian people by improving their livelihood, but rather enriching themselves at the detriment of the majority.

Cllr. Gongloe who is also a presidential candidate in the upcoming October 10, 2023 general and presidential elections accused the Liberian leaders for several violations of the constitution of Liberia, and speaking further called on the National Legislature to impeach President Weah for these violations.

Speaking on a local radio talk show, ’50-50’ on Sky FM with T-Max Jlateh on Monday, April 24, 2023, Cllr. Gongloe publicly criticized the CDC-led government of President Weah for what he alleged that it has done nothing to improving livelihood of the Liberian people.

Last week the he political leader of the opposition Liberia People’s Party (LPP) also accused President George Manneh Weah of using drugs, and must be subjected to drug tests and warned him not to evade them like he did with the COVID-19 vaccine.

Gongloe stated that “he cannot be destroying our country; his children are not even here.” “In addition, I have a strong suspicion that he is involved in narcotics and should be tested.” “Let him not try to get out of the drug test like he did with Covid-19,”

The opposition leader made the statement recently at a press conference he recently convened in the heart of Monrovia to discuss the rising calls for all elected or appointed public officials to submit to drug testing. Cllr. Gongloe is a well-known politician and attorney in Liberia. He previously held the positions of President of the Liberia National Bar Association and Solicitor General of Liberia.
