In Late Charloe Musu Investigation: Justice Minister Writes

Cllr. Frank Musa Dean, Liberia’s Attorney General, and Minister of Justice

Liberia’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Liberia, Cllr. Frank Musa Dean in a written communication to the GNN dated April 20, 2023 releases issues regarding the ongoing investigation of the death of Ms. Charloe Musu.

Below is Minister Dean’s communication:

“We have seen and read a lot of lies and misinformation trending on social media in the matter of the investigation of the death of Charloe Musu, suggesting that the Ministry of Justice is reluctant to bring charges against individuals who were inmates of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott’s residence at the time of the incident.

Under the Executive Law, section 22.2 (a) and (b), the Minister of Justice is required to “(a) Procure the proper evidence for, and conduct, prosecute, or defend suits and proceedings in the courts in which the Republic of Liberia or any officer thereof, as to such officer, is a party or may be interested” and “(b) Institute all legal proceedings necessary for law enforcement.”

As it stands, up to and including this moment, same being Thursday, April 20, 2023, 9: 00 a.m., the Ministry of Justice is yet to receive a written report from the Liberia National Police. After the Ministry of Justice has received a report and perused same, the proper and appropriate decision shall be made, based on the evidence”.

Minister Dean in his communication noted.
