Students awarded for exceptional entries for POPS Competition

The POPs (Persistent Organic Pollutants) Poetry and Oratorical Contest was an activity of the knowledge, Aptitudes and Practices component under the recently completed GEF 5558 Regional project.

This contest, geared towards school-age children and sought to sensitize its contestants to the issues of POPs and inspire in them the ability to educate others through two creative writing pieces: Poetry and Oratory.

Today, the winners of the competitions were awarded by Mrs. Laël Bertide-Josiah of the Department of Analytical Services.

The candidates were judged according to the following criteria: speech, delivery, the significance of the topic and general excellence.

Mrs. Bertide-Josiah congratulated all the winners on their exceptional submissions for the competition and encouraged them to keep up the good work as she was very impressed with the presentations by the winners.

The winners are as follows:

Oratorical Competition1st place prize was awarded to Maahi Joshua of Island Academy International School, and she received a cash prize of $1,000.00 and a certificate.

Poetry Competition: 6-8 Years

1st place prize was awarded to Kishawna Hughes, representing the J.T. Ambrose School and she received a cash prize of $500.00 and a certificate.
