Modified Flare Gun and Bullet Lead to Remand of Male Suspect

A 27-year-old man from Villa has been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison after being discovered in possession of a modified flare gun and a single bullet.

The defendant, identified as Trevor Powell Jr., faces charges of possessing an unlicensed firearm and a 9mm round of ammunition.

The incident occurred on June 6 when the police received an anonymous tip indicating that an individual, described as wearing a red shirt, a black tam, and a nose ring, was carrying an illegal firearm at East Bus Station.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police spotted Powell, who matched the given description and was standing with a group of men near a bar.

As the police approached, the men attempted to flee into the bar, but Powell was apprehended with the modified flare gun in his possession.

During the search, authorities also found a black bag containing small Ziploc bags holding approximately 23.7 grams of marijuana.
