PTI NZ Partners with Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce to deliver Photography Masterclass

The workshop, which was held earlier this month, was designed to take the mystery out of photography and teach participants what they need to know about using a camera to help make their business more successful.

Whether participants were just using a smartphone or a larger camera, whether they were amateurs or serious photographers wanting to become professional, this masterclass fast-tracked their ability to do so.

The event aimed to support entrepreneurs among Vanuatu’s export industries – people working in communications in tourism, government agencies and NGOs – learn how to create powerful visual material, to advance their marketing and communications goals. It may even have helped kickstart a career in professional photography or photojournalism for some participants.

Workshops like this support Pacific Trade Invests core mission of facilitating export-led businesses in the Blue Pacific Continent.

“Digital technology and the internet are providing unprecedented opportunities for businesses to promote their products and services on the international stage. It can become competitive, so businesses should be encouraged to lift their game and ensure the imagery they are using is compelling and hitting the mark to gain the necessary attention,” said Glynis Miller, Trade Commissioner for PTI NZ.

“The Photography Masterclass is not just to teach participants to use their camera and capture better photographs, but also to capture whatever they are selling, to give their business the best chance of looking appealing to the market they are looking to attract,” said David Kirkland.

David Kirkland is a professional photographer who has worked across in the Pacific for more than two decades, primarily in the tourism, communications, media and banking sectors. His photographs have been published in seventeen books to date, and he is in the final stages of publishing a new coffee table book on Vanuatu.

The Photography Masterclass in Vanuatu was the first of its kind there and will be used as a template for similar workshops in other developing Pacific export economies.... PACNEWS
