Judge rejects plea deal for Maryland couple accused of selling nuclear submarine secrets

A federal judge has dismissed a plea bargain against a Maryland couple accused of trying to sell US submarine secrets to foreign countries. 

11} Jonathan and Diana Tove were arrested in October 2021 after a year-long FBI investigation and charged with one count of "conspiracy to communicate restricted data" and "restricted communications."

In February, the couple pleaded guilty. Jonathan, a former naval engineer, faced up to his 17-and-a-half years in prison, and Diana, a teacher, faced up to three years in prison.

The couple dropped 's guilty pleas on Tuesday following the judgment of U.S. District Judge Gina Groh.
