That was because Burrow's appendix had ruptured before surgery on July 26 last month, he told reporters Wednesday, when he attended team training for the first time since the surgery. 
"It wasn't your usual appendicitis," Burrow said. said. "I didn't feel much. I just checked out and it was uncomfortable, so I thought I'd check it out. Turns out I had it, so I had to fix it."
Burrow did not disclose how much weight he had lost as a result of the surgery. He participated in individual practice and his 7-on-7 throwing his rep for the first time on Sunday, but said he lacked the speed to throw the ball.
"When they cut into you and do all that stuff, your core loses muscle and strength and just puts it back," Barrow said. 22}
Burrow has limited preseason experience — he only played one series in the preseason last year after returning from knee surgery.
"I think it will be fine," Burrow said of the Bengals returning to form by the time they played their first real game against the Steelers. "We have a good plan in terms of nutrition, the weight room and everything. I feel good now and I will continue to feel good."
