A group of Atlanta residents tracked down a man suspected of stealing a catalytic converter and detained him while waiting for police to arrive.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., responded to reports that a suspect had stolen a catalytic converter in his 100 block on Hilliard Street. Wednesday, August 10, according to police.

Officers arrive and find suspect detained by citizens who claim to have witnessed the crime. Did. One man said he heard a power tool being used under a parked car.
Catalytic converter thefts to rise nationwide in 2022
Citizens turned to police, suspect later identified as 42 Identified Told by Old Patrick Jorel York – fled the area with the car's catalytic converter and tools.Neighbors chased the man and detained him on Grant and Decatur Streets while waiting for police
Responding officers arrested York andidentified the owner of the stolen car parts. Police also recovered a battery-powered tool and a spare saw blade.

Charged with possession of implements for execution, and possession of marijuana. Police say York has been arrested at least 16 times before this incident.
