Anne Heche died from smoke inhalation and burns sustained in a car accident on August 5th.
The LA County coroner cited a sternum fracture from blunt force trauma as a contributing factor to her death, which was ruled to be accidental.
According to the National Institutes of Health, sternum fractures are caused by a person's chest hitting a steering wheel and are slightly more prevalent in female drivers.
Heche was declared brain dead on August 12th and taken off her life support on August 15th.
