LOCAL non-governmental organisation, Men of Destiny has donated an assortment of goods to Hoohlo Primary School in Maseru.

The goods included exercise books, diaries, crayons and balls.

The organisation also held various activities such as netball, soccer, painting, counselling, and guitar sessions at the school recently.

Men of Destiny founder, Lydia Mwesingwa, said the donation and activities were meant to motivate the students.

“These activities are aimed at helping the students to identify their talents and pursue them.”

The organisation also had a motivational talk for teachers under the theme, “Always value yourself”.

Ms Mwesingwa said they have been holding motivational talks for secondary schools since Men of Destiny’s establishment a year ago but they were now also including primary schools.

“We have realised that even primary school students also need to be motivated to do better in life and to take their talents seriously.

“So far, we have been to 11 secondary schools. However, Hoohlo is our first primary school,” she said.

On her part, school principal, Selloane Moseile, thanked Ms Mwesingwa saying she was God-sent.

Ms Moseile said the donation came at the right time as they could not afford to buy the goods.

Some of the students at the school were talented in sports but they could not purse their chosen fields because of lack of funding, she said.

She also thanked Men of Destiny for offering to cut grass at the school.

Ms Mwesingwa said she founded the organisation to encourage boys to grow up into responsible men. It also seeks to promote and protect the rights of marginalised groups.
