Khatoane breaks tournament record

Lesotho long distance runner, Jobo Khatoane won the Supa Mama Savages Half Marathon in Durban, South Africa (SA) on Saturday.

 In an interview with Informative Sport, Khatoane indicated that this was his first entry into the Supa Mama Savages Half Marathon, he entered the competition to prepare for Ced-matat half marathon, which is scheduled for September 11 this year. Also, he will be defending the Mkhambathini half marathon on October 16 then end at the Soweto marathon in November.

Currently Khatoane is running under the Club, Maxed elite company of Mr price sport, which signed him up in the competition.

Even though Khatoane was a record breaker, he said the race was not easy because they ran on rocky mountains.

He said winning this tournament gives him hope that he will win in the upcoming tournaments, which will eventually lead to more and more international successes.

Khatoane had been training vigorously in preparation of not just the Supa Mama Savages marathon but for other marathons that will follow. He stated that he was excising excessively for six weeks in preparation of these games. Judging from him being the first to break the record for this marathon, it is safe to say he is ready for international tournaments.

Khatoane, is no new comer in athletics, he has represented Lesotho in the Olympic Games before and the London Olympic Games in 2012, he has represented Lesotho at the 2013 World Championships in Russia and at the World Cross-Country held in Uganda in 2018. He also won the  021 Capital City Marathon in Pietermaritzburg .
