Bajan Squash team racking up medals

Barbados is on the road to claiming two more Gold medals from the Boys and Girls Team events of the 2023 Junior Caribbean Squash Championships being held in St Vincent should they continue their winning streak in the semifinals being played today (Saturday).

Both Boys and Girls Teams finished at the top of their Pools and will be competing against Cayman and Jamaica respectively in the semifinals.

The Girls Team dominated their pool  after defeating Bermuda 4-1 and Trinidad and Tobago in 4 matches. Sumairaa Suleman playing at the number one position defeated both opponents in 3 straight games.

Joanna Atkins playing at number two position also reported two wins along with Eboni Atherley at number three and Lenna Hamati at number five.  Ava Vamavakas playing at number four position was unable to record a win going down to Bermuda’s number four Somers Stevenson in 3 games.

The Boys team followed suit to also dominate in their pool by defeating St Vincent and the Grenadines 3-2, Bermuda 5-0 and Jamaica 5-0. Alex Stewart playing the number one position did not drop any matches  winning in 3 straight games each encounter. Aidan Parris at number two also won all his matches.

Number three Dominic Wilson dropped one match to St Vincent’s Jaydon Williams and Daniel Sealy at number four also lost one of his three matches to St Vincent’s Jayden George. Ben Shepherd, number five was also successfully winning all three of his matches. (PR)
