White House accused of claiming 'zero' inflation after latest CPI report: 'You're lying to everyone'

Conservatives took to Twitter to accuse the White House of "lying to everyone" in his July inflation assessment, which dropped Wednesday. 

President Biden and his press secretary on Wednesday interpret the current inflation rate as "zero inflation," outraging many on his social media platforms. 

In his speech at the White House, Biden claimed: Digits: zero.

However,Fox Business reported on the latest consumer price index . July was 8.5% y/y, below the 9.1% y/y surge recorded in June. This rate is lower than his CPI figure for June and 0.2% lower than his CPI rate of 8.7% recorded in May. 

While this is just 0.2% lower than his CPI high in 40 years (8.7%), inflation "slowed in July for the first time in months." I mean Basically, inflation remains as bad as it has been all summer. And it's not "zero". 

Perhaps Biden meant "zero," like inflation's "zero rise." 

Twitter conservatives were quick to point this out. His Twitter account for the 

Media Research Center provided the actual inflation rate, tweeting:

Kyle Smith, a film critic for The Wall Street Journal, tweeted incredulously.

"Fact his checkers all took a summer break," tweeted The Spectator editor Stephen L. Miller, mocking the fact that Biden could get away with such a spin Did. 

American Greatness Senior Fellow Ned Leune named Biden's spin on inflation among the major spins the administration has made on other issues. “New leftist calculus: 8.5% inflation in July actually equals 0. ACT for America founder Bridget Gabriel accused Biden of "lying" from the podium. She said, "Joe Biden is lying again. July inflation is 8.5%, not 0%. Where are the fact-checkers pointing out this misinformation?"

Her official From the White House Press Secretary's Twitter account,Karine Jean-Pierre spun the CPI report in exactly the same way as her boss.

Conservatives, like Biden, lashed out at the assessment. 

Washington Times columnist Tim Young showed no mercy to Jean-Pierre, replying, "FACT CHECK: TOTAL F --- LIE."

Former Daily Wire commentator Beth Baumann said, “Zero percent inflation. Please pass this on to all the families who are in. This is one of the most unorthodox and elitist statements I have ever heard." 

Matt Whitlock also saved a comment to Jean-Pierre, saying, "This is wild. Do you know this is a lie?" It responded to Jean-Pierre's post with a photo headlined , reporting: Inflation in July stood at 8.5%, near the highest annual rate in 40 years, even as energy costs eased.

and Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tweeted. “Gas is up 44% from last year. Electricity is up 15.2% from last year.

Though gas prices and inflation still remains near record highs, the White House claimed inflation for the month of July was "zero."
