Tyler Conklin earns star during Jets scrimmage as strong camp continues

Tight end Tyler Conklin was the star of Saturday night's green and white scrimmage .

Conklin , recorded seven catches during every period for the team, including the only touchdown recorded by the first offense. The Jets signed his three-year, $21 million contract during his free agency and have been training his camp very intensely. It's clear that he and quarterback Zach Wilson already have good chemistry.

"Conch is the best. He's been great for us," said Jets coach Robert Saleh. "The whole group [of tight ends] has been really good for us, but as far as he's concerned, just his ability to create separation on third down, win those 1-1s and be a run blocker, he's all.. Around the tight end, he was a pleasant surprise.”

Conklin and C.J. Uzomah were able to give the Jets a really great combination at tight end.

We need [two tight ends] and 11 people [one tight end]," Uzoma said. “There shouldn’t be any missed beats. You have to use certain identities to tweak things with certain motions. Things we need to see about Ps and Qs.It should be fun and it should open the attack wide for both of us.” Early on, the starting offensive line was complete. However, following a scrimmage on his tackle, George Fant and Mekhi Becton left the field as snap limits were set as he returned from a knee injury.

"This five of him started playing together more," Saleh said. "We weren't able to get the five of us together at the same time as we wanted because of the injuries and trying to make it easier for the players. It's even tougher. So today was a good day for them and it's even better. I hope things get better.
