Trump attorney who was in Mar-a-Lago for FBI investigation describes scene

Mar-a-Lago FBI Search Update

Former President Donald Trump's Florida-based attorney Lindsey Halligan was in Mar-a-Lago and spoke with CBS News about the FBI investigation.

Halligan said Monday. Received a call at about 10:00 a.m. thatFBI agents were at Trump's Palm Beach home in Mara. - Lago, they had a search warrant.

She was the second Trump attorney to arrive on the scene around 11 a.m. after the search began. Far right she was a TV host on the OAN Network, Christina Bobb, was already there.

Over the next eight hours, Harrigan said 30 to 40 of her FBI agents conducted the search. Few wore suits, but most wore her T-her shirt, cargo pants, mask and gloves. Halligan estimates that 10 to 15 of her FBI vehicles, including Ryder trucks, entered and exited the facility.

A source told her CBS News that the FBI did indeed remove boxes and papers from her Mar-a-Lago, but no electronic devices. Two sources said some, if not all, of the document may be classified. 

National Archives and Records Administration Fifteen boxes of records recoveredMid-January. Monday's search appears to be part of a Justice Department investigation.

Harrigan says she and Bob were barred from entering the complex and were forced to stay outside between the ballroom and residence on the Mar-a-Lago property. 

Halligan said the FBI divided the search into her three areas: her bedroom, storage area, and office.

She said she spoke with Mr. Trump, who expressed shock about the FBI raid. He said he believes he complied with investigators' demands. He told Halligan that the Department of Justice has an open line with his attorneys and instructed them to turn in response documents if they have them. said it had expressed concern about the abuse of 

U.S. officials have confirmed that a search of Trump's home was approved by the highest levels of the Justice Department. is not expected. 

Harrigan said the search warrant was sealed and she wasn't involved in this aspect of Trump's legal portfolio until Monday, so what kind of documents the FBI is looking for. I didn't know what kind of documents I was looking for. Some of the documents the former president kept in Mar-a-Lago. 

Nonetheless, she argued that the government raids were "a gruesome display of abuse and power, and wholly excessive." She also affirmed, "If they needed paperwork, they could have asked. There was never a compliance issue." Harrigan said the search was a "big surprise." said it was.
