The WNBA legend twisted his head to spotted a young girl offering flowers.Bird smiled in recognition of the gift before bringing the ball into play.

While the girl sat on the flower sidelines, Bird returned to hardwood and continued to melt what might be her final moments in Seattle.

Despite a heartbreaking loss to the Aces who beat the Storm 89-81, Sunday's game could be Bird's last step on the court at Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena.

Her "special day" may not have been perfect because of her loss. But Bird told the sold-out crowd that even though he didn't have a "mamba out" moment, as Kobe Bryant did in his final 60-point game, it was still worth it in the end.

"I'm not going to lie. It's kind of a shame we lost the last game," Byrd told the crowd. "But you know, I lost my first game too, so it's okay."

Even with the loss, Storm will still play in her regrouped WNBA playoffs, and Bird will return to Seattle. may not allow Bird will play her final three games of the regular season away from Seattle, so she sees her Sunday as more than just an honor.
