In Brooklyn, women and men were shot separately early Sunday morning as bullets flew through the city, police said.
A 21-year-old woman was shot in the back just before 1 a.m. behind her house at 569 East 108th Street in Breukelen, according to police.
The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition. She told officers that she heard gunshots and felt pain.
Shortly thereafter, at about 1:45 a.m., a man was shot once in the abdomen in front of Linden's House of Wirtman at his 185th Avenue. His age was unknown.
A video obtained by officers shows three gunmen getting out of a red sedan and firing at the man, officers said. Afterwards, the shooter, Wartman, took off on Avenue, police said.
Police said the car was found on Stanley Avenue and Williams Avenue, less than a mile away from him. Police said five men were detained pending charges. It was unclear how the officers caught the shooter.
One firearm recovered.
