Myanmar's ambassador to China died suddenly Sunday in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming, according to Myanmar state media obituaries and diplomatic sources in Beijing.
An obituary of his Ambassador Myo Thant Pe, published by the Myanmar Foreign Ministry in a state-run newspaper on Monday, did not specify the cause of his death.
Diplomats in Beijing and Chinese-language Myanmar media reports said the likely cause was a heart attack.
U Myo Thant Pe was last seen meeting with local officials on Saturday in Yunnan province in southwestern China, which borders Myanmar, according to local news reports.
He reached out to the Myanmar Embassy in China for comment, but so far has not received a response.
