Inside Tom Ford's former New Mexico ranch, now listed for $9 million

River Ranch, New Mexico aka Estancia del Rio — former fashion designer (and Santa Fe native) Tom Ford — is on the market for $8.95 million.

For the first time in 2019 he hit the market for $12 million.

Ford sold Cerro Perón in the Galisteo Basin just outside Santa Fe in 2016. It first went public with $75 million. Last year, amid the pandemic, he last asked for $48 million, said his Compass broker Clayton Orrigo, who represented the buyer. The property was also used to film films such as 'Silverado','All the Pretty Horses' and 'Thor'.

 Estancia del Rio's seller is musician, philanthropist and horse owner Fred Haas.

"I love it here, I bought it for the peace and quiet. Just to be in nature, to get away. It's so beautiful, I don't want to sell it," says Haas Gimme.

Estancia del Rio is a Southwestern favorite made famous by O'Keeffe for his painting of Mount Cerro Pedernal next to Estancia del Rio. There is also a ranch, near Ghost Ranch. "She called it her own mountain. You can see it from my doorstep," Haas said.
