Giants' Brian Dabor expects 'everyone' to play in first preseason game

A new philosophy on preseason minutes could break the Giants' streak of dismal regular season starts.

The Giants have started 0-2 in each of their last five seasons, and have had three different head coaches during that period. Going 7-30 in September and October, the Buffalo Bills, with Davor as offensive coordinator, finished October with a 5-2 record over the past three seasons.

"There's more sports science. There's more analytics involved," says Daboll. “I think I learned a lot from my time in Buffalo, which has historically gotten off to a fast start. Ultimately, it's about the players... performing under pressure and playing when they need to." 

Friday Squad One thing Dabor noticed in the inside scrimmage was when the Giants starter made 34 plays in 45 minutes. During Sunday's practice, the Giants drilled down a red zone play at one end of the field, sprinted to the other end, and set up shop again with the same unit. "The intensity, the effort, the energy was amazing," Dabor said. "A little more than reps and extra conditioning."

A year ago, the Judges Giants were widely panned for placing too much emphasis on running as a practice error penalty. The long sprints were always the toughest for the linemen and some of them looked faint. 

Center John Feliciano said, "I think it will get better," when asked how the players were feeling.
