Bus driver charged with interstate stalking 8-year-old after kidnapping, threatening to torture child

A school bus driver faces federal indictments for threatening and stalking his 8-year-old boy in New Hampshire.

His 39-year-old Michael Chick, from Elliot, Maine, worked as a bus driver for First His Students,and had driven routes in both Greenland and Rye, New Hampshire. , reported the Portsmouth Herald. 

Court documents state that Chick gave students at his school in Central Greenland a cell phone to take inappropriate pictures of themselves. and installed a tracking device in his parents' car and took several pictures. Evening visit to his home. The boy told investigators he used a story about a criminal group he called "The Team".

Boy's parents reported in April and May about chick 's obsession with son. Chick was assigned to another bus route but remained in contact with the boy, according to court documents, and the family found two of his mobile phones in a lunch box in the boy's room. In July, he called the police again.

"During the search for Chick's car, Investigators say they found a TracFone, a digital camera, duct tape, latex gloves, amazake, candy, children's clothing (including underwear), children's toys, a magnetic GPS vehicle tracker, and his mobile phone. Authorities claim surveillance cameras, TracFones, large plastic bags containing children's underwear,  and other evidence were found at Chick's residence," the Portsmouth Herald said. reported.

Chick was arrested Friday night. He held his first court hearing infederal district courtMonday afternoon. ordered him to be detained.

This matter was investigated by the Greenland Police Department, the Maine Elliott Police Department, the New Hampshire Internet Crime Against Children Task Force, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Homeland Security Investigations Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Casey Weiland.

Chick's attorney and public defender, Behzad Mirhashem, did not respond to his request from the AP on Wednesday.
