Beluga whales trapped in France's Seine have yet to eat

News

Paris — Efforts to feed the dangerously thin beluga whalethat strayed into the Seine in France have failed so far, and experts are now whales from the gates of the river where they are stuck. I'm trying to get rid of it. Environmentalists said on Monday.

Marine Conservation Group Sea Shepherd France tweeted on Monday that "feeding attempts are ongoing in parallel with finding the best solution to get out of the lock."

Field experts warn that beluga whales do not stay in the warm, stagnant water between lockgates for long periods of time.

"I haven't eaten beluga whales yet, but I'm still curious," SeaShepherd France tweeted. All night, the whale "rubbed the rock wall and removed the patch that appeared on the back. Antibiotics may have helped."

The lost beluga whale last week in the Arctic Circle. It was first seen in a French river far from its habitat. A drone footage taken by the French fire department showed whales gently meandering in the light green waters of the river between Paris and the Normandy city of Rouen, tens of kilometers inland.

Since Friday, experts have tried to feed beluga whales with dead herring and live trout, but with no success. Sea Shepherd fears that whales will slowly starve and die in the waterways.

The local government said the veterinarian had given vitamins and products to stimulate the whale's appetite, as well as some treatments.
