Woman creates giant waterproof bed for her garden using old pallets for only £70

A DIY-whizz has revealed how she created an amazing garden lounge area for under £100.

UK-based Tanya Woolston used old pallets, £70 in wood and material she already had lying around the house to create the private oasis in her mother's back garden.

The four-poster bed boasts a mattress and pillows covered with waterproof fabric - meaning they can be left outside.

Tanya shared her results, as well as pictures illustrating how she built the impressive structure on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group.

To make the bed, Tanya used old wooden pallets her mother had received at work and had been saving for a DIY project

Writing on the group, Tanya explained the base was made from eight wooden pallets that she was given for free by her mother, who runs a manufacturing business.

She also already had the lights, grey wood stain, mattress and pillow, as well as the waterproof fabric and 10m of white cotton that forms the canopy.

However she explained similar products could be found on eBay and pallets could be obtained from a local garden centre, business or through Facebook Marketplace.

It meant Tanya just needed to spend £70 on additional fence posts and planks to create the pillars and crossbeams on the design.

Tanya cut the pallets in order to create the bed's four posts, which she fixed using nails. She covered them in exterior wood stain to protect it from the weather

Half-finished, the sturdy structure only needed a mattress, some pillows and decorations to be complete

The large bed, pictured here before the curtains and lamps were added, is perfect for lounging in the garden

The pictures showed she pieced different pallets of wood together with large nails, and later added the four posts and the bed's 'roof' before painting it all black.

One the structure was dry, Tanya placed the mattress and cushions, which she cornered with two round outdoor lamps.

People were amazed with the result, and wished they could have the lavish lounging bed to themselves.

'Beautiful,' one said.

'Omg this looks lovely wish I could make this,' another said.

'Omg this is amazing I love it,' said another.

Many people said they loved the idea and wished they could do it themselves for their gardens
