A woman is facing backlash on TikTok after she crashed a couple's romantic proposal to take her own photos, prompting a fierce debate about social etiquette.
Javier Maldonado, who goes by the username @pinkbellabean, posted a video of himself getting down on one knee and proposing to his now-fiancé Anthony Rodriguez at the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park in Houston.
While the couple was front and center in the clip, an unknown woman could be seen striking a pose in the background. It's unclear if she was aware of what was going on, but at one point, she stepped back and moved closer to them.

Say what? Javier Maldonado posted a TikTok video of himself proposing to his now-fiancé Anthony Rodriguez, revealing an unknown woman barged into their shot
Busted: Maldonado explained that he waited his turn to pop the question at the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park in Houston, but the woman did not
'A random lady decided to take pictures on my proposal video,' Maldonado explained using the app's text-to-speech feature. 'I wait for my turn to do the video, but the lady didn't want to wait.'
The TikToker narrated as the woman walked closer to them to find a spot to pose for photos, saying: 'Right here, it's a good spot.'
Maldonado also shared what he was saying to Rodriguez while the woman was awkwardly milling behind them.
'I love you. You are the man that I want. I want to live the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?' Maldonado asked as he got down on one knee and presented Rodriguez with an engagement ring.
Yikes: While the couple was front and center in the clip, an unknown woman could be seen milling around in the background
Unbelievable: It's unclear if she was aware of what was going on, but at one point, she stepped back and moved closer to them
Whoops? It appeared to suddenly hit her that she might be in the way. She kept glancing back in their direction as she walked out of the frame
Success: Maldonado had someone edit the woman out of the footage and shared the new video on TikTok
The woman was taking pictures near them the entire time, but it appeared to suddenly hit her that she might be in the way. She kept glancing back in their direction as she walked out of the frame.
Many people were outraged on the couple's behalf, noting that they waited their turn and she should have done the same.
'The fact that she has the audacity to look at them like she didn't see them when she walked up,' one person wrote, while someone else added: 'This made me so mad omg.'
'She has to pay for your wedding now. She wanted to be a part of the engagement,' another joked.
Etiquette debate: Outraged viewers insisted she knew what was happening and should have waited her turn while others argued you can't expect privacy in a public place
Some thought it might have been an accident, with one TikToker noting: 'I mean in all fairness she is really far away from you, she probably didn't realize she was in the shot maybe? Hopefully it was an innocent thing.'
Others thought the couple had no right to privacy because they were in a public space.
'Um what do you expect when proposing in public tho,' one user asked, while another agreed: 'Why would you propose in a public place and get mad there are people around?'
'Y'all, if I see people doing something I'm gonna wait. My mom taught me this all the time. It's just basic decency. If it was an accident it's fine,' someone else noted.
A number of people said they could photoshop the woman out of the video, and Maldonado took one of them up on their offer.
He shared the new clip on TikTok less than a week later, writing: 'Here’s the video with NO RANDOM LADY!'
