Woman, 24, appears in court accused of killing newborn baby boy after being arrested at her home 

A woman has appeared before a judge accused of the murder of a newborn baby boy. 

Shauna Donnelly, 24, made a brief appearance before Teesside magistrates court accused of the murder of Ellis Donnelly on October 3rd last year. 

Police attended Donnelly's home in Wordsworth Road, Teesville, Middlesbrough, North Yorks, where she was arrested.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said at the time: 'An investigation is continuing to establish how a newborn baby boy died.

'A post mortem examination was carried out, however, the cause of death continues to be unascertained and further tests are required to try to establish the cause of his death.' 

At the end of a five minute hearing Judge Helen Cousins told Donnelly: 'I am now sending this case to Teesside Crown Court where it will be heard later today. I am remanding you in custody until that hearing.' 

The case will continue at 11am in another room at the same court building via videolink in front of a crown court judge.
