Will Njobvu is told to 'speak in English' by man who says he 'doesn't like' some black people

A black TV presenter has recorded the moment he was 'racially abused at a London Underground station'.

Will Njobvu, who hosts ITV's The Masked Singer spin-off show, was told to 'speak in English' by a man who said he 'doesn't like' some black people.

The Capital XTRA host from Rickmansworth was confronted as he spoke on the phone to a friend at Harrow-on-the-Hill station at 9.40pm yesterday.

Mr Njobvu said he was speaking English before he hung up and recorded the masked passenger.

He posted footage of their exchange on Twitter with the caption: 'Can't believe this but I've just been racially abused at Harrow-on-the-Hill train station.

'Was on my way home after finishing my radio show. On the phone to my friend and this man said ''speak in English''. He then said he ''doesn't like'' some black people.

'I've just been racially abused during Black History Month. We've got a long way to go. No one even stepped in to say anything.'

In the footage, Mr Njobvu approaches the man and says: 'Speak in English? I was speaking in English mate?'

The other man, who is white, replies 'yeah you are now' before repeating 'speak in English' under his breath.

Mr Njobvu says: That's racist what you've just said. Are you racist?' The man replies: 'Yes and no.'

The presenter follows up 'what's yes and no', to which the man says: 'When people won't speak in English...'

But he is cut off as Mr Njobvu says: I've been speaking in English, are you racist? I've been speaking English.

'I am in England, I have been speaking in English, are you racist?'

The man says again: 'Yes and no. There's certain black people I don't want to speak with and certain black people I will speak with.'

Mr Njobvu asks him: So why don't you want to speak to certain black people, what's the issue.'

The man, who has not been named, fiddles with his face covering as the video comes to an end.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: 'In the early hours of this morning, British Transport Police received a report of a racist incident that occurred yesterday evening (25/10) at Harrow-on-the-Hill Underground station.

'Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 26 of 26/10/20.'

Mr Njobvu has been approached for further comment.
