Northern Beaches residents in a busy apartment block have been plunged into lockdown after several tenants tested positive to Covid-19.
Occupants in five of the 26 apartments in the Manly unit complex have already become infected with coronavirus.
The apartments are located just one block back from the beach on the corner of Pacific and Malvern Avenue in the waterfront suburb.
NSW Health officials have declared the unit complex block a 'high risk premises', 9News reported.
Locals said the building has been monitored by health workers since Monday morning to ensure residents do not leave the building.
Tenants are expected to be locked inside the apartment building for a fortnight.
Health authorities are currently scrambling to trace the source of the cluster of cases and contain a potential outbreak in the area.
The cluster of positive cases has raised fears of a potential outbreak in the virtually Covid-free area of Sydney's Northern Beaches.
More to come.
