Underwater photographer captures stunning images of model divers off the coast of Hawaii

An underwater photographer has captured a series of stunning images of model divers off the coast of Hawaii.

Mitchell Brown, 26, from Ohio, captured his girlfriend Reika Kondo and pals while wreck diving - and also took snaps of her snorkeling around eerie caves for an impressive series of images.

The photographer additionally took shots of free diver Saveliy Mankovskiy, Monet Lomas, Miranda Tallinghast, and Amberleigh West.

They floated gracefully and perfectly poised their flippers in the glowing sea, off the coast of Hawaii.

Saveliy Mankovskiy perched on the edge of a shipwreck, before being pictured in front of the towering boat, in the spectacular series.

In the first five images, they were captured gliding through the deep turquoise on his Sony A6300 - and then shot the remaining four on his Sony A7RI7.

Mitchell moved to Hawaii towards the end of 2017 - where he has been working part-time as a Genius at Apple.

'I didn't grow up around the ocean and prior to moving to Hawaii, I had never been in the ocean,' he explained.

'The ocean's power surprised me, but it didn't stop me from wanting to spend all my time there.

'I started snorkeling. Snorkeling evolved to underwater photography and then a desire to learn free-diving. I have since fallen in love with underwater photography.'

He confessed that it started out as a bit of fun - and could never have predicted becoming so invested.

Mitchell went on: 'Underwater photography started as a hobby. As I got more integrated into the dive community I started to meet more and more amazing photographers.

'My standards for what I would share with the world slowly rose. I'm constantly learning and stoked to see the way my photography continues to evolve.'

He revealed that wreck diving is the perfect location for snapping mesmerizing photos.

'Underwater caves are a really fun place to take pictures. It's all about using the small amount of light you're given to light up a scene', he added.

'I am not scared of the ocean anymore, but am constantly humbled by it and know it deserves our utmost respect.

'I like positioning people in surreal locations which make people go 'wow'. It forces me to be surrounded by extraordinary people.

'A lot of the models in my pictures are very experienced divers who are doing dangerous things for the picture.

'While for anything dangerous we take proper safety precautions, such as safety divers to make sure we're all coming up from a dive safely.'
